For this art project we were instructed to pick three objects and draw them in pure contour. Pure contour is when the drawing is drawn with one clean dark line and no added textures, just the basic shape and proportions of the object. For my three objects I wanted there to be a theme within my painting. I chose a lion, an elephant, and a giraffe. The requirements for this project were that there was at least one object overlapping another, having the three following views: profile, frontal, and a view of my choice, I did another profile view, and finally drawings going off three sides of the an edge of the paper. Probably the hardest part of this whole project was getting the shapes and the proportions of my animals correct. I had to restart drawing my elephant three times because it wasn't quite big enough. After I drew the elephant it was a lot easier to draw the rest of the animals because, I had already figured out the size I had to approximately draw. The lion was probably the easiest of the three animals to draw because the shapes were pretty straight forward. For my negative space in the background, I wanted my animals to have their colors around them. I used pigment water color and my brush to make the textures and patterns in my negative space. One thing I would change about this project would be the size of my bigger giraffe's neck. it wasn't quite proportional because it was too long. Overall, I am very happy with the outcome of this project, and I think it might be my best art project so far. This quarter I have not only learned how to use negative and positive space, but also enlarge, crop and draw in pure contour.
