Realistic Scratchboard

For this unit we worked with a new material, scratchboard. Personally I really liked this new material because it was relaxing. For our summative we were instructed to take one of our own personal photos and use it as a reference to create a realistic scratchboard drawing. I decided to pic a picture of my deceased cat— yo-cat. The materials I used was of course, a scratchboard and the etching tools. The hardest part of this whole project was the nose. At first I scratched way too much and it was too much white. To solve this problem, I had to cover up the white in ink. Overall I am happy with the outcome of this project because I was able to go square by square and I think that it matched my reference closely. If I were to make my project better, I would have done a second drawing, because it would have come out better because I would have more experience with the material this time.
