Blind Contour

For this art project we started with a blind contour drawing of one of our hands. Then we moved on to the drawing our own face again, without looking. Then we moved on to drawing a partners face across the table from us. After this we were instructed to use color and create an abstract piece out of our blind contour drawings. I started coloring in my faces and hand first. Then I moved on to trying to create something out of my drawings. I kept one of my abstract faces and then I painted over the other one in black. With my hand I created fish out of the fingers and made a water channel out of the wrist of my hand. For this project we are instructed to use as much color as possible so I blended a bunch of different colored water color blues for my ocean. I painted the fish swimming around the big black dot on in the middle of the paper. I colored the fish who were the farthest away from the black dot healthy and bright in color, the ones that were farther away are faded and some fish are not whole. When I was drawing this I had the idea in the back of my mind that the black dot in the ocean was the pollution and chemicals we put in our water killing the fish. The face I left I interpreted as mother nature watching her oceans, and her fish being destroyed. Some difficult challenges for this project was in the beginning when we were turning our contour drawings into a abstract piece. It took me awhile to see something to create. I started with the background, and it sparked the scene in my brain. Tools I used for this project were, sharpie for the blind contour drawings and them pigment watercolor for the rest of my project. Overall I am satisfied with my end result especially the color schemes. If I were to change on thing I would have put more details and color on my face.
