Alrighty there everyone, what better way to wrap up the first week of ISAT testing than with an awesome Book Club!!!! THIS time, I will be hosting Book Club at my house 😊If you have never been to my house, I'll send out my address later in the week, but it's not far! I live by Parkway Elementary and CHS in downtown Clarkston.
April 24th: Color Party! Bring some things to share and/or exchange and/or eat or drink that are all the same color! We did this one before and it was a blast!!
Again, you do NOT need to participate in the color party to attend, it's just an added bonus 😊Hope to see many of you there!
Big thanks to our office staff Amanda, Brandee, and Lori for their help in updating all the documents for student council. At this point, we have a list of students that we would like to get your feedback about for their fitness as student council representatives and ASB officers. Please complete the Google Sheet that is attached.
Additionally, we are on track to hold our elections in on Friday, May 1st.
FROM HEATHER
Because you are the most amazing staff ever... my 7th grade classes will be making lunch for all of you on Friday, May 8th. You will have a choice of either a sandwich or a salad. This will be paired with a soup of your choice and a cookie treat if you would like one. Please be sure to submit a form with your choices by April 21st so that I can shop over the weekend. ***When you select your delivery time remember that it is a Friday and the ISAT schedule might impact your location/lunch time.

Wednesday May 6-Hat day

Welcome back, Jenifer Middle School staff!
I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break and were able to spend meaningful time with family and friends. I also hope your Easter was filled with joy and rest.
We’re excited to have everyone back and ready for a strong finish to the school year!
Lisa Fenter has requested placements for interns. There are 3 that we need to place in secondary. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in having an intern for Fall 2026.
One (1) Secondary History
One (1) Secondary Biology
One (1) Secondary Social Sciences/History
There will be an informational meeting to gauge interest in a second cohort on Wednesday, April 8, in the CRC from 4:00 - 5:00. Some members of this year's cohort, who started their program in June 2025 and are scheduled to finish in December 2026, will be in attendance to answer questions you may have! Their cohort comprises six staff members from Lewiston, one from Kendrick Julietta, one from Troy, and one from Highland.
Before the break, we were informed that the State Safety Inspector would be visiting schools this week. Please look over this attached list at areas identified for teachers and make sure we are in compliance.
Positions have been advertised the last couple of weeks for some of the positions that we have open at Jenifer. I am happy to share that there is interest from within the district and some teachers will be visiting Jenifer this week to get a better idea of the positions that they could fill for next year. Please open your classrooms to these teachers and answer any questions that they may have.
Mr. Hoyt moving to Grade 6 Science - Big thanks to Mr. Hoyt for moving to our grade 6 team for next year. This grade level is seeing the most attrition with half the grade level retiring or resigning for relocation purposes. His move will help keep continuity of our science program in grade 6 and across the department. There was no interest shown in the grade 8 science position, so this role will be advertised within the district hopefully this week.
For grade 7, we have designated our BARR coordinator as Katy Helt. Thank you Katy for taking on this responsibility.
Emily Shriver will join the grade 6 team next year. She will transfer from McGhee.
Jennifer Spears will join the sped team next year. She will transfer from LHS.
Chase Murphy from Orchards shared that he is no longer interested in the grade 7 math position. This means this position will be advertised externally.
Quinn has shared that he will be supporting Anna while she undergoes treatment in Arizona. He shared that he will likely return on Monday, May 11. This means he will return around 5 weeks from now. He could use some kind words of encouragement, if you have time, please let him know that you are thinking of him and his family.
Our month long fund raiser for the HUB raised over $1,000! Thank you to all those who made this a focus and raised the funds for the HUB!
Thank you to all the staff members who supported the drama production of Finding Nemo Jr. Great Job to Trace Steele for directing his first musical. Great job to our Drama Club actors who put on an excellent show!
Proctor Training Slideshow Principals, proctors, observers, and anyone who will have access to the data must review the Proctor Training Slideshow. If in doubt, have people review the information.
Assessment Confidentiality Agreement These go to the Lab Tech, and principals are responsible for ensuring all involved participants have completed and signed the agreement prior to the start of any testing.
Our Social Studies Curriculum Review work continues on Tuesday, March 10 with additional publishers presentinging at the meeting scheduled from 3:30-5:00 at the district office.
Thank you Cheyenne, Feliza, Mary, and Justin for your continued work on this committee.
Thank you Mary for piloting the selected social studies resources!
It is time to book Spring Observations. Unless requested by admin, you only need to book an observation time. If you are scheduled to do your evaluation with Aaron, please use the calendar below. Let me know if you have questions.
All Spring Observations need to be booked by April 17
Attached below are the results from the mid year feedback from this year and last year. I have compiled them together for overall results.
What is compiled is a summary of all question results as well as commentary for areas of strength, areas for improvements, and any other comments.
I would like to see all of us at Jenifer complete something like this with the students we work with everyday. It is so useful to review feedback as a source for growth.
It may not come as a surprise, but one area that needs development is student behavior.
Thank you all for the feedback, I will work to make improvements and to hold on to the areas of strength.
I am currently in the process of sharing results from our family and staff engagement surveys. What is attached below are the summary to questions asked. I will be updating these data points, but wanted to share these results as soon as possible. We still need to look at the student results.
