I hope everyone is enjoying the summer break! Things are pretty quiet around the school. Wanted to give you all an update on the work that is currently happening during the summer along with some important updates that we are working on. Hard to believe that students have been out of the building for couple of weeks now!
On June 5th, the Lewiston School District held data celebrations. We had much to celebrate! We knew that we hit our ISAT goals, but I learned that there were many other schools that hit school goals as well. It was good to hear some of the strategies used to hit goals as we still have work to do to improve some of our key performance indicators.
Please see the updated details for staffing below. We are still recruiting for a special education teacher and librarian.
Personnel Report
Mike Renzelman resigned football coaching position at LHS
Mike will now join JMS football coaching team
ESP - Years of Service Recognition - Thank you to these staff members for the years of service to our students!

Sandra Parker 5 Years
Attached you will find an updated teaming information based on new hires from this year. Additionally, you will find update to team leads and coordination for advisory.
We have 20 students enrolled from Jenifer in Summer Learning. Thanks to Lori, Amanda, Quinn, Ali, and Bonnie for their work to get students enrolled in summer learning.
We have confirmed 3 new hires and still need another special education teacher. Thank you to the teachers who will support our new staff members as mentors.
All requisitions for next year have been submitted and district office is processing them. We still need to order IXL for next year, but this should be completed shortly. We split the costs for IXL with SAC. I've also just learned about Innerorbit.com as a possible resource for science.
Now that we have a fence surrounding our school, we need to revise our emergency procedures. Quinn has started working on revamping our muster points and exits. Please see the current planning below for details and feel free to share feedback.
There are a number of small projects taking place at JMS this summer. If you drive by the school you will see that maintence is filling in the old sidewalk that was removed. Inside the school, the Art Room is getting a major makeover. Additionally, there are some room changes and cleaning taking place. Have a look at the details below for more information.
I have not seen IT come through the school and update computers yet.
John has sent about 70 Chromebooks to IT for some small repairs.
Thank you Brandee for entering our current calendar dates for 25-26. You will have noticed that Wednesday, June 18th, Brandee entered over 100 events on our calendar for next year. These dates include PD dates, Committee meetings, Progress Report dates, and special school events. We will continue to add/edit events as we learn of happenings for 25-26, however this should give you a good idea of school events for next year.
For hosting our staff end of your party! This was lots of fun and great way to celebrate the conclusion of a successful year!
I hope all the dads were able to celebrate Father's Day!
Is it possible that one of the best villains in cinematic history is also one of the best fathers? The duality of dad is complex!
June 5th might seem like a lifetime ago or maybe it feels like yesterday?
Big thanks to the Guiding Coalition Team and Department Heads who worked to analyze our data from this year a find the celebrations. We really had a great year and there was much to celebrate. That's why the attached presentation contains over 40 slides of celebratory points from our school year.
The presentation will share an explanation of data celebrations and a fishbone diagram outlining strategies JMS used to achieve success.
We hit all our ISAT goals this year! This is a huge success story for us this year!
Math 54%
ELA 60%
Science 50%
This is awesome work by all our teams to engage and empower our students and push them to achieve their best!
As we know, Mrs. Mullikin has been offered one of the positions in grade 6. She has accepted and the board has approved! Congratulations again Mrs. Mullikin!
Mike Renzelman will be Isabelle's mentor next year as she will have 3 sections of science and 1 section of social studies.
Mrs. Mareena Robbins has been offered and accepted the position of ELA/SS in grade 6. Congratulations to Mareena!
Mandy Packwood will act as Mareena's mentor.
There are 2 different positions to review for special education.
Janine Wilson was offered and accepted one of our SPED positions. Mrs. Wilson was our long-term substitute in grade 8 this year. Congratulations to Janine!
Katy Helt will act as Janine's mentor next year.
Mr. David Collinsworth did accept a position. However, due to family issues in California, Mr. Collinsworth will not be able to join us next year. This is disappointing as we were really looking forward to Mr. Collinsworth joining JMS.
We will be interviewing candidates to fill this position as soon as possible. I was in an interview on June 19th, for a sped position and will continue to recruit.
We conducted 2 rounds of interviews for the library position left vacant by Mrs. Brockmann. We knew it would be impossible to replace Peggy... And the search continues...
There will be advertising in the paper during the summer for this position.
As you know, Tyler Widman has accepted a position at Centennial as a day-time custodian. We conducted interviews last we for his replacement and we hired Josh Bjur. Josh was at Jenifer at the end of the school year, so you will probably recognize him. Congratulations to Josh!
Congratulations to Justin Miller who will replace Joy Beckman as our ELA Dept Head.
Did you know that Mrs. Young has worked for the Lewiston School District for 25 years???
Thank you Ms. Young for your years of service and the significant support you provide the students at JMS!
Have a look at the spreadsheet below for who is moving rooms and where they are moving. We have some opportunities to make some changes with this movement.
I've also attached some of the work (big and small) that needs to happen before we start school. If you can think of a work order that needs submitted, let me know.
Big thanks to Mr. Peterson and Tim from SAC for their work at the school. Things are looking great!
Some points to highlight, grade 6 has some adjustments to teaching allocations and teaming. Mrs. Robbins and Mr. Akin will be White Team and Mrs. Linja and Mrs. McLeod will be Red Team. Blue Team will become the 3 person team with Mrs. Mullikin taking 3 sections of Science and 1 section of Social Studies. Mrs. Wolf and Mrs. Turner continue to team as Blue Team.
In grade 8, we know that Mr. Thompson is joining the West Team. In grade 7 we have Mrs. Packwood joining South Team.
For Team Leads, grade 6 keeps Mrs. Wolf as team lead and in grade 7 south team Mr. Washburn will replace Mrs. McFarland.
For the rest of the teams, there is a rotation of team lead by quarter and a designated individual to work as Team Lead coordinating advisory. Mr. Rodgers, Mrs. Dufour-Harrich, and Mrs. Stamper will coordinate advisory program with Mrs. Wolf and Mr. Washburn. Mrs. McCall and Mrs. Franke will support advisory as well.
Couple resources that we might be able to use for advisory for next year:

Professional learning, and committee meetings dates are attached here for easy reference. This calendar follows the 24-25 calendar very closely. There are some adjustments for dept heads as they are scheduled to meet every other month now to allow for dept meetings.
Progress report dates are also attached here as well. However, we will not be printing these reports for students. In years past, you would see "students carry". Now this reads as "notifications". The office will be responsible for notifying families to check student progress on PowerSchool. Teachers can send messages as well through our new "Rooms" communication system.
This is our last week of school!

IT will be re-imaging and updating all computers over the summer. Before you leave for the summer, please make sure anything you have saved on the C drive is moved to another drive or backed up. Anything on the C drive will be erased. John can help you with that if you want.
We will not be collecting them and transferring them like was done last year. Please leave Chromebooks docked and unplugged in your classrooms. Chromebooks will be distributed at the beginning of next school year.
Grades and Teams - Please share a time with John that you want him to assist with the Chromebook inventory.

Mr. Collinsworth has accepted the position. We look forward to welcoming him to our team.
I will ask Katy and Kinsey to act as mentors for these new sped teachers.
Now that there are 2 different positions to review for special education we look to make the best fist according to the new hires expertise.
We now have a couple applicants in the pool for the position. We will work to hire and onboard before the start of the new academic year.
Tyler Widman has accepted a position at Centennial as a day-time custodian. Please extend your congratulations to Tyler when you see him. We will work to fill Tyler's position during the summer.

Thank you to Mrs. Wolf for hosting our end of year staff party again. It's great that this location is out in Cougar Ridge which means this party is unlikely to get busted by the po-po! Try to keep this party on the down-low so Officer Kent doesn't send his buddies to bust us!
Seriously, this will make for a great way for us to celebrate the conclusion of the year. Hope to see you all there!
