Dear Team,
It feels like we have some positive momentum heading into Spring Break. This is owed to your work to make sure our students are engaged and supported.
When we return, we will have 1 week of school before the end of the quarter. Clearly our students are motivated to do well as I have seen several of them staying after school working to improve their grades. Thank you teachers for providing them opportunities to improve their achievement before the close of the quarter.
On April 1st, we will meet for a staff meeting at 7:55 in room 101 (as usual). Although this will be the only meeting of the week.
Lastly, if you are traveling for Spring Break, I wish you safe travels! If you are celebrating Easter, warmest thoughts to you and your family on this joyous occasion. Happy Easter!
On Tuesday, principals and leads of secondary attended a meeting at the district office focused on PLC questions 3 and 4. Attached are the resources shared at that meeting. We have made great progress with our work to embrace the PLC process, but there is still work to do.
This PADLET has many resources to support our work to address questions 3 and 4.
Please see the letter that is attached for our parents that will be shared as we head to Spring Break. Contained in the letter is information regarding conferences, respect agreements, dress code, and request to complete our Parent Survey.
Who do you have to win it all?
I have UCONN winning the whole thing, but you never know... Maybe it will be UCONN and the ZAGS in the final. Do you remember when these two teams met for the first time?
April Niemela is offering a course through LCSC for classroom management in the summer. She is happy to speak to teachers about the course and you can contact her at april.niemela@gmail.com
The application deadline is April 12 and the application link is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1n5eNQnQy819AhbZEf6Hlury8wwmPkosvbggcPU1z51feUw/viewform
The course may run through June 10-20 or July 15-25. This is dependent on interest and cohort preference.
What we know now. Again... this is now.
We know that our current structure of 8 core teachers in grade 6 needs to change to a team of 7 and we know we have a retirement in grade 8 social studies with Mr. Gratz doing his farewell tour.
I am happy to share that Mr. Brandon Rodgers will teach in grade 8 next year with the subject focus of social studies.
Thank you to the staff members who have met with me and shared their flexibility and preferences for next year. I am particularly grateful to the grade 6 team who have been very supportive with the staffing changes that needed to be made.

Congratulation on completing Spring Conferences!
Conferences were extremely successful. Lots of positive conversations on learning and tons of parent support. We had close to 450 conferences and almost 1000 attendees. The affirmations were a hit as well. I can't wait to see students read those before our testing begins!
Did you see all those beautiful QR Codes?

We made it to MARCH!!!
We have 3 weeks to go before we hit Spring Break. However, we will have a pretty busy 3 weeks leading up to Spring Break.
Celebrations:
We have some student celebrations attached below in our update for this week with Boys and Girls Club Boy and Girl of the year coming from Jenifer Middle School. Also, our wrestlers took 2nd Place in the Bi-State Tournament on the weekend. I think my voice is still a little sore from all the yelling.
I've been asked to make a checklist for teams when we have a number of items that need completing. So, please see the attached checklist along with summaries attached in the update for the week.
Prepare for Spring Conferences
Prepare for Computer Re-imaging
Complete ESP of the Year Nomination by March 8
Submit Student of the Month Nominations by March 8
Submit feedback to the ISAT schedule revamp by March 8
Complete Peer Observations before the next PD on March 13
Complete Cognia Surveys by March 22
Wrestling this weekend was awesome! Jenifer did extremely well. We were 5 points short of winning the whole tournament. Please have a look at some of the pics below and celebrate the many wrestlers efforts to compete this weekend.
Wrestling is one of those lonely sports. It is just you and your opponent battling. Most athletes can handle the intensity of the moment, but some students experience some big emotions when they lose a match.
Thank you for your preparations for Spring Conferences. Attached below is the schedule we are using for conferences. Please make sure your team is using this doc or continues to update this doc so we have it centralized for the office to access and make changes if needed.
As we mentioned before, we are tight on our faculty fund so we will start to get creative with snacks and staff provided meals.
Attached is the form for your reference: https://www.lewistonschools.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/2022-2023.ESPoftheYearNominationForm.pdf
