An excellent Thanksgiving break. I hope everyone had a wonderful few days off; spent with family and friends. This was my first Thanksgiving in 20 years back in the US. We spent the break doing some simple outdoor activities and had dinner with my dad at our house.
Thanksgiving is a time when we can share our gratitude. I am thankful for all the dedicated staff at Jenifer supporting the needs of our students. There is much care and time devoted to our students' success.

Idaho Healthy Youth Survey Grades 6&8
Jenifer will participate in the Idaho Healthy Youth Survey. Students who will participate will be students from grades 6 and 8 who return the attached consent form. This form will be mailed out when we mail our Work Habits to Parents.
This is an opt in survey so we can only administer the survey to students who return the survey. The deadline will be Friday, December 1st. This will give us time to decide how and when to administer the survey.
Please use the spreadsheet below to track the opt in permissions we get returned from students. You can also bring the forms to the office and we will track responses.
It seems fit that the character trait for November is empathy. There is the assumption that many students look forward to having Thanksgiving and Christmas break. However, there are some less fortunate students who will have little resources to fully celebrate these holidays.
Our community has responded very well to the "Fill the Bus" initiative, which starts on Monday. This initiative is a canned & non-perishable food drive to provide needed resources to families around the valley with limited resources. Please support this initiative and look for additional information from Quinn and Students' Council.
Heather contacted the Food Bank and they are in need of everything at the moment.
"We need everything. We have been extremely busy, and the week of Thanksgiving was the busiest on record, by far. Our shelves are quite depleted.
Any canned food would be great, and we always need ramen noodles, but rest assured we are in need of anything you might wish to contribute. Thank you so much for all that you do."
I also believe we have a friendly competition established with Sacajawea for the Middle School to provide the most support for the "Fill the Bus" initiative.
Vector Trainings link to the trainings done in the past--approximately 60 minutes. For certified, please add the certificate in ed folio. Classified staff are also to complete the training, but you can notify Aaron and share certificates (see below) as evidence of course completion. Due date is March 31.
An unexpected cold surprise... I hope we are finding ways to stay warm while this gas shortage continues. We've seen local business hit with this shortage from fast food to major manufactures. Looking at things optimistically, at least the weather today is absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully it doesn't get too cold while this gas shortage continues.
We will move some of the calendar events that were scheduled to happen this week to next week. For example, the Teacher Vs. Student volleyball game and Veterans Day activities will be moved to November 17th. Please wait till Monday to reschedule any parent meetings that might need rescheduling due to the no school days.
We have to be optimistic that by Monday, things will be back to normal. Regardless, the expectation is that teachers are all back in the building for PD on Monday, November 13th to complete Work Habits and PD in the afternoon.

Can you believe we have completed week 11 already?
The Culture and Communication team has been busy sharing the great work we do at JMS by providing weekly updates, which are posted on our website along with supporting the administration of the JMS Facebook page. Sharing our work reinforces our positive standing in our community and the importance of our institution. Thank you to the team for all your efforts!
Evaluations are going very well. It's a privilege to work with excellent teachers and support you in your efforts to continue to grow in our profession. Please let me know if you are having any issues completing any part of your IPLPs, domain 5s, or completing pre/post observation forms.
By this point you should've signed up for a time for either Quinn or myself to complete your evaluation before Christmas break.
With only 6 weeks before Christmas breaks, it is time we start thinking of how we can celebrate the holidays together. Please complete the holiday party form below if you are interested in celebrating together! Thanks Mrs. Wolf for organizing this survey for us and getting the ball rolling.
