On Monday, February 26th, there will be a School Board Meeting where Aaron, Justin, and Quinn will present our celebrations. We will share specific strategies that were used to work to reach some of our goals.
Thank you all for your support to make our February 14th professional development day a success. Attached are the resources needed to get started with peer observation in connection to support effective classroom environments.
Guiding Coalition and PBIS/Pastoral Care committee members will be reaching out soon to their assigned teachers to conduct observations. The objective is for us as a school to develop a culture of peer observations and start to identify those teachers who are really great at classroom management to order to support other members of our school who want to improve in this area. Additionally, we can compare the data provided from the self assessment and peer observations to see what areas as a school we need support in developing effective classroom environments.
After you complete your observation, please make sure you submit your observation form and write to the teacher you observed. Please use these prompts to write your feedback:
Feedback (email) please select a prompt:
General thank you for hosting as an observer
Something that you saw that was positive
Something that you saw that you can take back to use in your classroom
Something that was a definite strength in that classroom.
Something that was a definite strength of that teacher.
Please refrain from sharing any critical or evaluative feedback that may seem negative.
Thank you to all the staff members who supported our Tammany colleagues during the past week with the passing of Kevin Olberding. Ms Turner worked with the staff and students at THS last week in her role as a member of the crisis team. Ms. McCall also supported THS in her role as a counselor. Thank you Ms. DuFour-Harrich for providing a continuos connection between JMS and THS.

Thank you Quinn and Justin for running leading the school in my absence and for all the hard work during the last couple of days. It was clearly a very busy week.
This week we have another Professional Development opportunity. This PD will focus on Creating an Effective Classroom Environment.
PBIS + Guiding Coalition committees have both worked on completing the training module from SESTA on Creating an Effective Classroom Environment. The training module can be found here: https://idahotc.com/Portals/0/Resources/1241/pbis-tier-1-module-8/content/index.html#/
During PD we will review what committee members have learned from the course and provide an overview of the course for the remaining teachers who were not involved in the committees. IAs will use the time to work through the training course. We will also develop our approach for peer observations required to complete the Creating an Effective Classroom Environment assessment. The approach will be similar to how the district has structured the ELEOT observations.
Lastly, teams will have time to work on their SMART GOALs connected to engagement and behavior.
If you have not already done so, please complete your submissions for teacher of the year and ESP of the year. There is a current competition with Kelly Norwood nominated for Inland NW Awards. Please take a few minutes to VOTE FOR MR. NORWOOD!

This is the last week for admin to complete their observations so be prepared to have people in your rooms this week, most likely on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Admin are observing the active engagement of your students.

Cheer competition over the weekend was a great success with our Jenifer students winning several awards and competing very well. Thank you Brooke and Mac for your support of our Cheer team.
Thank you for the work last week to move forward with our engagement goals. It was great to hear from each team their summary of their goal and strategies they are taking to address the goal. Thank you Justin for clarifying what "Learning Goals" can look like and the kinds of learning goals teams have developed. Additionally, thank you Katy, for sharing the connection between engagement and behavior using our SWISS data to tell a story of the need for continued efforts to work on behavior, specifically in our classrooms. Lastly, thank you Quinn for sharing another tool for restorative practices with the introduction with the Buddy System.
Having the whole school together for these discussions is key for working on alignment in our practices for engagement and behavior.
Happy Counselor's Week! Bonnie and Ali will be gone on Tuesday from 12:00-1:00 for a lunch break. Thank you Bonnie and Ali!
Thank you to all staff members in the school for their support in launching our Burro Buck Acknowledgment System. This will align our school to our core values of Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.
