International Exchange Brings Cultures Together: Japan's Odate Kokusai Joho Gakuen Visits Again
On November 8, our school welcomed teachers and students from Odate Kokusai Joho Gakuen in Akita, Japan. This was their second visit, following last year's successful exchange. Together, we created another meaningful chapter of international cultural and educational exchange.
This year’s program focused on “Art and Cultural Dialogue,” with activities including interactive lessons and cultural presentations. The Japanese students performed an energetic and delightful dance, quickly building a friendly connection. Our students acted as "cultural guides," introducing unique Taiwanese items like the eco-friendly loofah sponge and the iconic blue-and-white slippers, sharing interesting stories behind these everyday objects.
During the calligraphy session, both schools wrote spring couplets based on the theme “Learn from Confucius and Mencius, Love to Learn,” discussing the wisdom within these words. In the art activities, students explored each other’s culture through visual and performing arts. At the farewell party, everyone sang the famous song Sekai ni Hitotsu Dake no Hana (“The Only Flower in the World”), symbolizing the uniqueness and value of their friendship.
Our principal expressed gratitude and said, “International education is not just about language but also about sharing culture and building connections. Through these activities, students gain a better understanding of different cultures and the power of friendship.”
The representatives from Odate Kokusai Joho Gakuen also praised the exchange and shared their excitement to bring these valuable experiences back to Japan. They look forward to continuing this meaningful partnership and creating more opportunities for educational exchange in the future.
Our school will use this successful event as inspiration to further develop international education, helping students broaden their horizons and prepare for global challenges.
