Top Down and Bottom Up Modelling
Top Down and Bottom Up Modelling
When creating 3D models in CAD, there are two main ways to build complex assemblies: top-down and bottom-up modelling. In bottom-up modelling, each part is made separately, then brought together into an assembly. Meanwhile, in top-down modelling, the design starts with the overall shape or assembly, and parts are created based on how they fit together. Both methods are used in industry, and choosing the right one depends on the type of project and how the parts relate to each other.
Parts can be based on shared geometry or features: You can create parts that share edges, faces, or dimensions with other parts, which helps maintain consistency and accuracy.
