Scissors

I have been giving my poodle haircuts for a number of years and seldom use clippers anymore.

With scissors you don’t need to get out an extension cord and you don’t have the noise from the clippers or problems with dull clipper blades. (Read more about clippers)

If you are just beginning to cut your dog's hair I suggest starting with basic simple straight scissors. The basic scissors that come with a pet grooming kit

are fine for starters, however you might eventually want to add to your collection. Other types of scissors include the following: Curved Scissors (they curve along the dogs body, making a neat curve easier to achieve) and Blunt tipped pet scissors

(the blunt tip helps you avoid poking the dog).
