Homeopathy or homoeopathy is an alternative medicine system created in 1796 by Samuel Hahnemann, based on his doctrine of like cures like, a claim that a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in healthy people would cure similar symptoms. Homeopathy is incorrectly presented as scientific. Studies have found homeopathic preparations are not effective for treating any condition. Studies have found homeopathy to be no more effective than a placebo in treatments. Any positive effects that follow treatment are due only to the placebo effect and normal recovery from illness.
There are however, alternative treatments and home remedies that can be effective in certain situations.
