ABOUT 50 MINUTES BEFORE SERVING:
Preheat broiler if manufacturer directs. In small saucepan over low heat, melt butter or margarine; stir in brandy and lemon juice. Discard giblets and neck from hen; sprinkle hen with salt; place, skin side down, on rack in broiling pan. Brush with mixture.
About 9 inches from source of heat (or at 450 F), broil hen 40 to 45 minutes, turning occasionally and basting with mixture, until fork-tender.
