Date of issue: 15 February 1909. Citation: Was one of a party that volunteered and attempted to run the enemy's batteries with a steam tug and 2 barges loaded with subsistence stores.
Henry Nash was born in Lenawee County, Michigan. He was a farmer. Enlisted as a corporal for three years at Adrian, Michigan. Mustered, Camp Denison, Ohio into Co. B, Forty-seventh Ohio Infantry, July 20, 1861. He was captured by the enemy on May 3, 1863 and paroled at City Point, Virginia on May 23, 1863. Mustered out in Atlanta, Georgia on August 20, 1864 due to expiration of term. He was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 15, 1909. Lived in Palmyra, Michigan (Lenawee County) after the war.
