Date of issue: 13 December 1907. Citation: Was one of a party that volunteered and attempted to run the enemy's batteries with a steam tug and 2 barges loaded with subsistence stores.
Addison Hodges was born in Hillsdale, Michigan in 1841. He as a farmer. Enlisted as a private for three years at Adrian, Michigan on June 15, 1861. Mustered, Camp Denison, Ohio into Co. B, Forty-seventh Ohio Infantry, July 29, 1861. He advanced to the rank of corporal in September 1862. He was captured by the enemy on May 3, 1863 and paroled later that month. He was listed Missing in Action on May 3, 1864 and imprisoned at Andersonville. Addison was paroled from Andersonville on September 23, 1864. He was mustered as a veteran in February of 1864. Promoted to Sergeant July 1, 1865 and discharged at Little Rock Arkansas on August 11, 1865 He was awarded the Medal of Honor on December 13, 1907. Lived in Washington, D.C. and Adrian, Michigan (Lenawee County) after the war.
