This Michigan Historical Marker sits on the grounds of Adrian College on Madison St. in Adrian Michigan
It was put up by the 4th Michigan reenactors and Nash-Hodges Camp #43 SUVCW in 2003. The marker tells about the 4th Michigan Infantry and Camp Williams which the college campus was called while the 4th trained there in 1861.
On Thursday October 19, 2023 The 4th Michigan / Camp Williams Historical Marker was once again placed on the grounds of Adrian College. Sometime during covid the marker was damaged and put into storage. In the fall of 2022 we made contact with the college and found out where the marker was and that it needed some repairs. The state was contacted and with the help of Michelle Davis from the state and Chris Stiver from Adrian College we found out what needed to be done and the appropriate people were contacted. The Marker was packed up and Sewah Studios from Ohio came and picked up the marker. A joint effort between Adrian College and the 4th Michigan Infantry Co. G reenactors funded the repairs. In less than a month the marker was on its way back to Adrian. We would like to thank all those involved in getting this project completed. Special thanks to Michelle Davis, Chris Stiver and Butch Miller.
