Jessie Haughton Munn 1905-2000

Jessie Haughton Munn was born 24 August 1905 in Apsley, Victoria, the first child to George William Munn and his wife Maggie Armstrong Hope.

After whom was Jessie named, I ask? Well, this little baby had lots of Aunt Jessies but Haughton? A quick search through my ancestry database, soon revealed that she was named after her maternal great grandmother, Mary Haughton (1816-1880), who was born in Cornwall, England to Thomas Haughton and his wife Jane Chivell.

In 1928 Jessie married Arthur (Spiff) James Robertson (1906-1971). Together they had 5 children.

Note: At the Hope Family Reunion at Naracoorte, SA in 1986, she discovered among other people's memorabilia (that they brought along to display), was a photo of her and Spiff on their wedding day - she had gone through life not realising that any photos of that day existed - she was thrilled to see it - which in fact was an understatement if ever there was one!

Jessie died about the year 2000 and regretably, I have no further information about her or her family.
