Hang in there - This page is still a "Works in Progress". I am putting as much time as I can into bringing them up to date with the material I have on hand. In the meantime, if you have anything - text or photos which you would like to add to what you already see, then your contribution will be most welcome. You can contact me at:

My source went on to share extracts from a letter which she discovered while on her own journey of tracking down information about the McClure family history:

"On board ship, Jupiter, Sydney Cove 25 November 1823

Information for his Excellency Mayor General Sir Thomas Brisbane KGB

The arrival of 2 overseers and 8 sub overseers of convicts [personnel from Royal Artillery & Company of Royal Sappers & Miners] from England in ship "Jupiter", John Park Master, Hugh Walton Surgeon; 1 overseer & 4 sub overseers, 5 women & 16 children landed Hobart Lieut Gov Sorrell's order [the rest presumably] taken to Sydney Cove with wives & children - 70 in total Messrs Alexander George & James McClure. However, there is no mention of wives of Alexander George & James McClure."
