Alice Burgess Hope was born 22 April 1878 at Fernside, Apsley, Victoria to Richmond Armstrong Hope and Isabella Edgar. Alice was named after both of her grandmothers, they being Alice Armstrong (wife of Thomas Hope) and Margaret Burgess (wife of Halbert James Edgar). Alice was the first born child.
She married George McClure (see Family McClure for more information) , son of Henry McClure of Ozenkadnook, Victoria. Alice died on 14 June 1973 at Adelaide, South Australia. George was born 23 September 1882 at Broken Hill, New South Wales and died 21 May 1939 at Adelaide, South Australia. George, for a time, was a policeman in Casterton, Victoria.

In a letter from Margaret Mulcahy (nee Daly [Minogue]) she wrote "I had to smile when you told me Alice Hope married a McClure (which I didn't know) the continuing circle never ceases to amaze me. I'm quite sure the McClure she married would have been old Henry McClure's son, and they lived a few yards, 20 or so, from where I write. Two McClure brothers came to this area last century. Adam and Henry, I'm fairly certain there were just the two. I know, or know of, all of Adam McClure's descendants, many of whom live in this district, and she didn't marry any of them. My grandfather James Daly, bought this property "Clunie" from Henry McClure in 1892. The family then moved up to the Mitre-Natimuk area where their descendants still live. Part of the chimney of Henry's house still stands, it was made into the detached kitchen of the house grandfather built of which nothing remains."
