On 6th January 1875, Alice Jessie Laidlaw was born at Yellock Creek, near Naracoorte, at the home of her mother's parents; Thomas and Alice Hope. Her parents being Euphemia Catherine Hope and Thomas Francis Laidlaw.
25 May 1905 at "Prospect", Alice Laidlaw married her first cousin, Hector Sutherland Watson, the son of Hector Watson and Thomas' sister, Jane Laidlaw.
Alice Laidlaw died 5 April 1949, aged 74 years. Alice and Hector Watson had issue:
Hector Sutherland Watson was the son of Hector Watson born 18 September 1832 and died in 1908, aged 76 years. Hector came from Golspie District (on Dornoch Firth, 58 degrees north of Inverness), Scotland and settled at "Wamboola" Strathdownie. He married Jane Laidlaw whose brother Thomas Francis Laidlaw had married Euphemia Catherine Hope. Jane was born in 1843 and died 20 September 1897, aged 54 years.
Alice Jessie Watson was organist at the "Wilderness Church" Strathdownie for many years and was a valued member of the Presbyterian Church. After the death of her husband Hector on 1908, Alice moved to Mount Gambier to live and attended that Presbyterian Church regularly. She married married Dr. C. C. MacDonald in July 1914. Dr McDonald died 1918 (no issue).
