Born 20 March 1870 at Kadnook Station, Victoria and educated at Melbourne Church of Christ Grammar School. Had Pastoral pursuits at Isis Downs, Queensland. Served in South African War. Settled at Hawkesbury New South Wales.

Married Catherine Rutherford Affleck, daughter of David Affleck. Catherine died May 1932.
