Christina O'Brien was born on 28 March 1896 in Merino, Western Victoria. She was 3rd child (2nd daughter) to Joseph O'Brien and his wife Isabella Hart. Her siblings were:

Not only Christina but her siblings and their families hold tight that their O'Brien family are 100% Scottish, coming from the Highlands at Fort William. Later generations are starting to question this because the name O'Brien can't be anymore Irish if they tried. Maybe further research will be able to prove this through yet to be identified documentation.

She married Edgar William Hope in 1921, when she was 25 years old, at her home town of Merino.
