If Mr. Lundahl Wants to Debate, It’s His Responsibility to Obtain the Necessary References

Kevin R. Henke

September 15, 2022

In Henke (2022b), I cite a reference by Senter (2019), who refutes Mr. Lundahl’s Hovind reference on fire-breathing Leviathans:

“In a vain attempt to justify that dragons could have actually breathed fire, Lundahl (2022a) scrapes the bottom of the barrel and cites Kent Hovind to support his argument:

“I think Kent Hovind gave a good reply when referring to the bombardier beetle. Yes, Leviathan is described as fire-breathing, so he dealt with it on a seminar on Job (morally not as great as Moralia in Job by St. Gregory), and the explosions coming out from the bombardier beetle would kill it - if they happened inside the head of it. Two liquids are emitted separately and join when coming outside the organism, and then explode. Same would be the case with things catching fire when coming out of a dragon's (or leviathan's) nostrils. Hovind mentioned more than one dino that had cavities above the nose, and these could have held liquids meant for such combustion.”

Once more, Mr. Lundahl provides no reference for Hovind’s statements. Nevertheless, I know a lot about Hovind and I’ve even spoken with him over the phone. Hovind is totally incompetent on science and doesn’t know anything about paleontology. I’ve even read Hovind’s diploma mill “doctoral dissertation.” It’s absolutely dreadful and incompetent. See Senter (2019) for a detailed rebuttal of Hovind’s and other young Earth creationist nonsense on fire-breathing dinosaurs.[my emphasis]

Lundahl (2022k) then complains about my citing of Senter (2019):

“Let's see, according to his famous Chicago protocol for references, I should be able to scroll down and find out whether this is a paper or a video or a book.

It's a book. It is not available in French libraries. Unlike Henke, I did not just give a reference which the other can look up or not, I referred to the actual argument being made, citing myself when citing Hovind's argument : I think Kent Hovind gave a good reply when referring to the bombardier beetle.

It is possible Senter refutes this, but Henke does not. Is there an Amazon page with a good preview? Henke hasn't provided a link to such a thing.”

Why should I provide a link to Senter (2019) when I’ve listed everything in the bibliography of Henke (2022b) for Mr. Lundahl to find the book? I recognize that Lundahl (2022h) shows an inappropriate disdain for the responsible use of bibliographies (Henke 2022e). However, at least I provide all the information that he needs to track down my references, unlike his sloppy citing of Lewis (1960) and Bishop Challoner in Lundahl (2022a) (also see my detailed criticism in Henke 2022b).

While I often summarize my references, Hovind’s claims are exceptionally bad and were part of a tangent. So, I just cited a good reference, Senter (2019), and went onto more important topics in Henke (2022b). If Mr. Lundahl or our readers really want to see Senter (2019), they can look up the reference and get the information first-hand and in a level of detail that I could not summarize in an essay.

Now, I’ve always lived in very rural US states. If my local libraries did not have a reference, I was able to get almost any reference through interlibrary loan for free. Mr. Lundahl is in Paris, France and I would think that some library in the capital of a major European power would be able to loan him a copy of Senter (2019). If Mr. Lundahl is going to debate, he needs to be able to track down references. If Mr. Lundahl cannot find a reference or get it through interlibrary loan, that is his problem. As I stated in my conditions for written debates point #7, which Mr. Lundahl should have read back in February 2022 before this debate started:

“I will provide information or links so that individuals can look up my references. I will not provide copies or summaries of my references. My opponents will need to show some effort and look up the references for themselves and read them. I don't expect my opponents to be lazy.”
