Front Chassis Brace Installation

Difficulty: 1/5

Time to install: 20 mins

Tools Required: Socket and Ratchet set, wrench set, Rhino Ramps or Jackstands

These subframe braces were originally designed and sold by Brainstorm Performance, which is now defunct. However, it's are similar in installation to the Front Lower Control Arm Brace from Racing Beat. They are a good addition to any NA or NB, but are particularly helpful on early NA models that had far less bracing than more mature versions later produced.

This is the contents of the kit, the brace and some basic mounting hardware. Get the car up on ramps, or jackstands.

Here, you see the smallest hole that is closest to us. This is where the brace is mounted on both the driver and passenger side.

Place the bolt in the hole. If your fingers aren't very nimble, you can use some string or dental floss to tie around the end of the bolt and pull it through the hole.

Place the brace over the bolt, then the washer, and finally the nut. Tighten lightly with finger. Repeat on the other side.

Use the 14mm socket to tighten the nut, and use a thin wrench to hold the bolt still. Repeat on opposite side.
