Sometimes to transmit images it can be useful to share your laptop's internet connection
When the wifi is delivered with a web authentification.
The Internet Lan cable is not reachable, too far away from your camera
When your Mifi/Huawei does not work
When 3G is too expensive or does not work
Technically speaking you will use an application called “Virtual Router” or a “Wifi Extender / Repeater”
In this tutorial I suggest you to get Connectify, which, when used with your wireless transmitters (Nikon WT4/5 or canon WFTx) is a very useful application.
You will not need more than 10 minutes to set the system up.
LAPTOP PART 1
Install (if not already done) Nikon Wireless Transmitter utility
Install Connectify on your laptop. (Ask me the link)
Reboot your computer.
Connect your claptop to internet. (The Wifi or Lan you are about to share)
Run Connectify :
Choose the name of your wifi: for exemple CanWIFI2
Choose a password: for exemple 12345678
Sometimes the main internet connection has a time-out. To keep it alive you can use Boursorama running in your webbrowser.
That’s it !! You are now broadcasting a Wifi network named “CanWIFI2” with 12345678 as a password . (test it with a smartphone if you can)
LAPTOP PART 2
Plug your Camera to your computer with the USB cable, switch it on.
Launch Wireless Transmitter Utility
Nikon D3, D3s,D4, D4s
Switch your camera off, remove the cable
Switch your camera on
Menu / Setup Menu (spanner) / Network / Network Settings / Choose CanWIFI2
Menu / Setup Menu (spanner) / Network / Options / AutoSend OFF
From now on, when you need to send a picture press in the same time the OK button + center Pad button
