Validation Procedure (May 2017)
. The photographers send ordinary JPEG panoramic files identical to those sent every day except that the subject is completely distorted. They are called "Equirectangular" pictures
. These files will follow the usual path of a standard photo from Iris and up to AFP-forum. But they must never be cropped because the reader will stitch the picture from edge to edge to make a 360° panoramic picture.
. However, it is necessary to publish these photos on the Roundme platform to allow clients to use an HTML link that must be added to the caption before the publication on AFP-Forum with Iris
1. If you need to edit/test the 360 picture use this page http://toolkit.afp.com/360 (vpn only) Just drop the pictures in the page. If the pictures are already in Iris right click the pictures and export them to your desktop.
2. Connect to this site : https://roundme.com/@afp/tours.
3. Click on LOG IN (Top Right)
· Login: ask us
· Pswd: ask us
4. A “tour” is a Topic with a welcome screen and you can publish pictures inside.
. To publish and make a “Tour” in the same time, drop the picture anywhere on the browser window.
. To Publish in an already-made “Tour”, click in this tour and drop the new picture on the browser window
5. Click the “i” to add a caption, then save it: There is one only caption per “Tour” not per picture
+
6. Click the green pen to finish the editing
7. Copy the first part of the address of the page on your Internet Browser, It should be something like this
Please note that the best is to copy the link ONLY with the first number, which links to the space and drop the end of the link which brings to the picture. In the example, I would NOT copy the “/edit/261276”. The reason is that if any change in the picture is applied later, the link to the picture would be lost, while the link to t This picture is an equirectangular panoramic photo displayable in a 360° interactive animated page. To embed this content in a website, download the photo, then insert this link in an Iframe or import the file in a playehe space will never change.
8. In Iris, in the Keywords field, add the 3 following words:
. EQUIRECTANGULAR PANORAMA
. 360
. 360 PHOTO
Then paste this sentence in the Spcl Instruction’s field prior the link of the Tour:
. This picture is an equirectangular panoramic photo displayable in a 360° interactive animated page. To embed this content in a website, download the photo, then insert this link in an Iframe or import the file in a player https://roundme.com/tour/xxxxxxx/
9. Publish the panoramic pictures as usual. It’s finished, thank you !
SOME MORE DETAILS:

Then click on the thumbnail at the bottom of the page, and move it up. Drop it onto the cross that appears at the top of the screen
VALIDATING THE PICTURE IN AFPFORUM:
The picture sent to Iris is seen as a flat image. You can correct it in Photoshop as a normal jpeg, especially for the colors and contrast and you can also with the Camera Raw filter ‘defringe’ the purple lines on the border (in the lens corrections page of Camera Raw). BUT YOU CAN’T CROP THE PICTURE as the corners of the image would not match in a 360 view. It is also important to keep it large size (7744X3872 for the Nikon KeyMission 360) to keep the best quality.
FILLING THE IPTC AND METADATA IN IRIS :
Start the caption with ‘This 360 photo (equirectangular panorama) shows…’
Add the keyword ‘EQUIRECTANGULAR PANORAMA in the keywords (it is part of AFP referentiel database)
You can also add more generic keywords like ‘360’ and ‘360 photo’
In the ‘client dialog’ section, add:
“This picture is an equirectangular panoramic photo displayable in a 360° interactive animated page. To embed this content in a website, first download the photo, then import it in a player, or, insert this link in an Iframe: ADD HERE THE LINK FOR THE ROUNDME SPACE OF THE PICTURE”
You can now validate the picture to AFP Forum and Archives.
It will appear as flat in AFP Forum but will be seen as a 360 image on Getty’s website
Clients will be able either to download the picture from AFP Forum and use it with a player on its website or simply use the link to display the picture uploaded on RoundMe.
