Teacher Evaluations & Course Allocations.

HEC has designated QEC for quality control purposes. The following areas are targeted for improvement in terms of evaluating and improving quality of education at PIDE.

Teacher Evaluations & Course Allocations.

As per request of faculty, teaching evaluations will soon be distributed to teachers. Dr. Abdul Qayyum has made QEC presentation about PIDE at HEC, and we hope our ranking will be improved soon.

Dr Abdul-Qayyum to look into re-design of teacher evaluation form, and arrange for statistical analysis, and distribution to teachers. Also, please look into grading system guidelines in effect at LUMS, and see what we can borrow from them. In particular, Dr Arif Zaman of LUMS has developed a grading system in EXCEL which uses several advanced algorithms to determine cutoffs for letter grades.

Evaluating Productivity/Equivalencing.

This is being worked on. A report will be ready shortly, and will be circulated for comments. This will be discussed at the first Faculty Forum to be held on Tuesday.

Discussed with HOD’s about procedures for teacher evaluations. Current form is far too complex, is

not subjected to analysis, is not shared with teachers. Evaluations should be simplified, and should

be used to provide feedback to the teachers. Allocations for courses should be based on evaluations.

Transparent procedures should be followed for selection of teachers for visiting courses. Dr Abdul-
