Paperless Office

Request was received to dispose of past exams as they take up a lot of room. This can be our first test case for a paperless office. If we scan and maintain these exams, we can keep them on record without using up storage space. I have also asked for a detailed report of the exam on EXCEL spreadsheet – a lot of valuable information can be obtained by analysis of past exams in terms of difficulty of questions, as well as their ability to discriminate between good and bad students. Also, running correlations between performance on entrance exams and later academic performance tells us about how well our exam performs as a selection criterion for getting good students. Old exams are worth keeping if they are analysed properly.

This is related to the E-governance. All documents, circulars, notifications etc. can be in soft form

only. In particular, all new notifications will be posted on the PIDE Faculty Blog in the near future.

Also past files which are taking up valuable space will be scanned and stored in soft-form for easy

access and searchability. Initial steps are being taken to set it up and assess feasibility. Khurram Iqbal

has been given the task to research the concept of paperless office, and work on a demo based on

some old and useless files which are gathering dust in our offices.
