Economics

All departments have held one or more meetings and have sketched plans/visions for the future; but the final report is not complete, and further meetings are being held. I have asked all of them to post interim reports on the blog.

This is our core program, the backbone for all others. There are several ways to strengthen it, to

make it unique and outstanding. I have discussed these in detail in a document I prepared earlier

– A Vision for PIDE. It would not be possible to implement all of these changes in the near future.

However, a few important issues can be handled right away. We need to introduce history and

politics into the core courses, as well as introduce separate courses on these topics. Simply adding

one course on Political Economy would be good start. Dr. Fazal to prepare a 5 year vision, with

suitable team.
