Rocky Road Brownies

This is a recipe from the days of my Alpine youth.  I made these for every special occasion! And they were always a hit.

INGREDIENTS

     Stir together:

1 cup melted butter

2 cups sugar

1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa

     Now add:

4 eggs, mixing thoroughly after each one

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

1 teaspoon vanilla

    Pour into greased 9X13 pan; Bake at 350 for 25 minutes, until toothpick comes clean. 

    Now:

Place  small marshmellows all over top and bake for 5 more minutes. Don't let marshmellows brown.

FROSTING:

       In sauce pan, 

Melt 1/4 cup better. 

Add: 1/4 cup cream or milk. Stir and boil together 30 seconds.

Stir in til smooth:

1/4 cup unsweetened baking cocoa, 3/4 pound powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla 

Let set 10-15 minutes.  Spoon frosting over slightly cooled brownies.  Let set before scoring.
