Baby Moses

(This is one of the many songs composed by the Goldmans.)

Baby Moses (a song for Passover)

by Jennifer and Scott Goldman

Floating down the River Nile, Baby Moses slept awhile,

Rocking gently, rocking gently, down the River Nile.

On the shore a princess wept, ‘til she saw Moses as he slept,

Wrapped in Hebrew cloth, wrapped in Hebrew cloth, a secret she always kept.

Oh Moses, Oh Moses, Oh get us out of bondage,

The Jews they cried Moses, Oh get us out of bondage!

Moses, Oh Moses, Oh get us out of bondage,

The Jews they cried Moses, Oh get us out of bondage!

In Pharaoh’s home he was raised, an Egyptian prince for all of his days,

Never knowing, never knowing, he belonged with the slaves.

Then one day the truth was known, Moses was a Jew in Pharaoh’s home,

He would never rule, he would never rule, Egypt’s mighty throne.

Oh Moses, Oh Moses, Oh get us out of bondage,

The Jews they cried Moses, Oh get us out of bondage!

Moses, Oh Moses, Oh get us out of bondage,

The Jews they cried Moses, Oh get us out of bondage!

G-d told Moses to get the Jews free, Moses told Pharaoh this must be,

He cast down plagues, he cast down plagues, until the Jews were free.

They wandered in the desert in joy and pain, not much to lose but plenty to gain,

They crossed into Israel, crossed into Israel, but Moses must remain.

Oh Moses, Oh Moses, You got us out of bondage,

The Jews they cried Moses, You got us out of bondage!

Moses, Oh Moses, You got us out of bondage,

The Jews they cried Moses, You got us out of bondage!
