Pack 89 Families,
What a week! This past weekend we saw off our Blackbird Patrol with an incredible Arrow of Light ceremony! Then this week Troop 16’s Order of the Arrow members hosted several scout skills stations for the Pack! Pretty Good Stuff, I’d say. We are rounding the bend for the home stretch but boy do we have a lot going on!
Arrow of Light Bridging – Blackbird Patrol – A great Arrow of Light Bridging ceremony and a wonderful send off for the Blackbirds. Here is a link for the pictures from the event https://cubscoutpack89troop16site2.shutterfly.com/. Pack 89 wishes each and every one of them well as they embark on their Boy Scout journey!
P.S. – This is the website for all of Pack 89’s pictures (along with T16). So our Rocket Launch, etc. are all there. If you do not have access, go to the site and request permission to check out how great you all look at our events!
Den Meeting! (1 May) A regular Den Meeting? What is that? Time to work on those final electives!
Den Meeting! (8 May) NEW INFO! Mother’s Day is just around the corner and it’s time to show you appreciate her by putting your florist skills to good use – but DON’T TELL HER, IT’S A SECRET!
Bike Rodeo! (15 May) NEW INFO! This event is a lot of fun for the scouts and their siblings. Bring your bike and helmet; Mr. Champigny will give it a thorough check, we’ll pump up any sagging tires, and one of Suffolk’s Finest will go over some bike safety before putting you through your paces on our challenge course!
Den Meeting! (22 May) NEW INFO! This is our alternate date for the Bike Rodeo if the weather does not cooperate on May 15. Also, for the Bears and Web Is (Hawks) this will be our second meeting about Webelos Resident camp - Scouts and Parents should attend together.
Pack Meeting! (29 May) 6:30 pm NEW INFO! THIS IS THE LAST PACK MEETING OF THE YEAR and is the final opportunity to pass out the awards everyone has been working so hard to earn. As always, class A uniforms, no hats.
Day Camp! (18-22 Jun) NEW INFO! Mark your calendars! This is a great week of fun activities to kick off the summer. Please look out for upcoming notices and sign-up sheets as we get more information.
Webelos Resident Camp (29 July – 2 Aug) Overnighters and day camps are fun, but what about “going to camp?” We’ve got that covered too. Rising Web Is and IIs (current Bears and Hawks) will get to head off to the mountains to our favorite camp Powhatan. Nestled high in the Blue Ridge Mountains Council, the weather is temperate, there are no mosquitos, and the program offered is exceptional. We’ll be having several planning meetings before they go detailing the event, but you DO NOT need to go out and buy a bunch of camping gear. The boys (and you) will all camp in BSA tents, the meals are provided, and the adventures pre-planned. All you’ll need are uniforms, clothes, toiletries, and bedding. Costs this year are $175 for a scout and $65 for a parent/adult, plus any spending money and gas charges. The theme for this year is that of the early pioneers -- Traders Trail!
Pack Bridging and Family Campout! (2-3 June) NEW INFO! The culmination of the whole scouting year, we’ll be recognizing all the scouts as they bridge up to their next rank, hosting a cook-out with pot-luck sides (sign-ups out soon), and finishing up the evening with a campfire and family camping. The whole family is welcome! All you really need is a tent, a sleeping bag, and a folding chair. Not ready for camping? Just come for the day and relax. Also, this is a great opportunity to get in a campout for the boys’ rank advancement as this technically falls in the next year for the boys activities. What a great way to end/begin the year!
