Pack 89 Families,
Great Pinewood Derby! Loved your car names and there were some really close races. Thanks again Grandpa Jerry! We have a little break this weekend and then we pack a whole lot in the following weekend, details below.
1) Blue & Gold Banquet! (3 Mar) – NEW INFO! So you will see this twice – We need people to sign up if you and any family members plan on attending as we lock down our final food amount. Please be sure to swing by the sign-up sheets (attendance, food and set-up and breakdown help).
2) Den Meeting! (27 Feb Glebe) NEW INFO! – We are meeting at Glebe. Final Den meeting before Blue and Gold, we are in the home stretch!
3) District Pinewood Derby! (3 Mar) NEW INFO! Did you win at the Pack level! Then you are automatically eligible to race again the best the District has to offer! Come back to Driver Elementary School, your home turf, and show them how we do it! Cub Scouts must be present for their race. There is a charge of $5 per Scout. Race Times attached.
4) Blue & Gold Banquet! (3 Mar) This is the Academy Awards of Cub Scouting. This is where your son earns the rank he has been working so hard to achieve all year. We make it a REALLY BIG DEAL. The whole family is invited to Nansemond River High School for a night of fine dining, awards, and entertainment. Want to lend a hand? We’d love that! Come talk to me, Cubmaster Ward or Vince Caravello about joining the Blue & Gold committee (I know they want to hear from you!). Sign-up sheet has been out, please look for it at the meetings. The cost is $6 per person with kids under 5 eating for free.
5) Den Meeting! (6 Mar at Glebe) NEW INFO! Our first Den Meeting after Blue & Gold! What electives are you looking at?
6) Den Meeting! (13 Mar at Glebe) NEW INFO! Hope everyone is moving right along!
7) Troop Spaghetti Dinner! (17 Mar). NEW INFO! Troop 16 doesn’t use popcorn sales to replenish its budget. All the popcorn commissions go to the Scouts. Of course, their great program still needs some funding and they do it with spaghetti! They only have one fund raiser for Troop needs and it is delicious. What to take a break from cooking Saturday night? Come over to Glebe Church on Mar 17th and chow down from 4:00 – 7:00! Tickets are $8 apiece. If you have not purchased tickets you can get them at the door, so if you change your mind at the last minute, come on by!
8) Arrow of Light Boards! (Every Tues until April) Web IIs, I hope you have been studying … I know you are qualified, now’s the time to show it. You need to start scheduling your Arrow of Light Boards. Maximum is 3 per night. Sharp Class A uniform with neckerchief and slide and all your regalia. Impress Mr. Ward and the other members of the review board.
