Pack 89 Families,
What a Pack meeting! You all have been really busy and it showed – good work! Pinewood Derby is just around the corner, like TOMORROW — time to put the finishing touches on those designs! Also, we had some sign-up for Blue & Gold this week, if you missed the meeting or the sign-up sheet, please be sure to look for it next week. I also want to reiterate Cubmaster Ward and congratulate and thank everyone who attended one of the Scout Sunday services these past two weekends. You all represented Pack 89 well and our host churches appreciated your support.
1) Pact 89 Pinewood Derby Setup! (16 Feb) NEW INFO! We need help setting up the tracks, etc. at Driver Elementary. If you can assist, Brian Champigny and Paul Long are leading the effort and are assembling at Beech Grove at 4 p.m. to load the Pack trailer and then will head across the street to Driver Elementary to setup. If you can assist, we would really appreciate the help.
2) Pact 89 Pinewood Derby! (17 Feb) NEW INFO! For those new to Cub Scouting – this is a Class A (i.e. full) uniform event. Time to put all of that hard work to the test and see who is really the fastest. The races are held at Driver Elementary. The Derby takes up most of the day on Saturday, but, each Den has specific race times – see below.
3) Den Meeting! (20 Feb) Only two more meetings until Blue and Gold!
4) Den Meeting! (27 Feb) Final Den meeting before Blue and Gold, we are in the home stretch!
5) District Pinewood Derby! (3 Mar) Did you win at the Pack level! Then you are automatically eligible to race again the best the District has to offer! Come back to Driver Elementary School, your home turf, and show them how we do it! Cub Scouts must be present for their race. Details to follow.
6) Blue & Gold Banquet! (3 Mar) This is the Academy Awards of Cub Scouting. This is where your son earns the rank he has been working so hard to achieve all year. We make it a REALLY BIG DEAL. The whole family is invited to Nansemond River High School for a night of fine dining, awards, and entertainment. Want to lend a hand? We’d love that! Come talk to me, Cubmaster Ward or Vince Caravello about joining the Blue & Gold committee (I know they want to hear from you!). Sign-up sheet has been out, please look for it at the meetings. The cost is $6 per person with kids under 5 eating for free.
7) Arrow of Light Boards! (Every Tues until April) Web IIs, I hope you have been studying … I know you are qualified, now’s the time to show it. You need to start scheduling your Arrow of Light Boards. Maximum is 3 per night. Sharp Class A uniform with neckerchief and slide and all your regalia. Impress Mr. Ward and the other members of the review board.
