Pack 89 Families,
Well everyone made it to Glebe and we were able to set up pretty well. Thanks for all of those who caught up with me to get on the list for Blue & Gold – our numbers shot up by almost 60 people! The Bears had a great wood working project and I cannot wait to see those camp stools at Cub-O-Ree and our Pack Bridging campout! This weekend is Blue & Gold and District Pinewood Derby -- here we go!
1) District Pinewood Derby! (3 Mar) NEW INFO! Did you win at the Pack level! Then you are automatically eligible to race again the best the District has to offer! Come back to Driver Elementary School, your home turf, and show them how we do it! Cub Scouts must be present for their race. There is a charge of $5 per Scout. Flyer with race times attached - but they are on the hour as follows (registration is the first half hour and races are the second half hour):
Webelos IIs – 9:00-9:30 am Register and Race 9:30-10:00 am
Webelos Is – 10:00-10:30 am Register and Race 10:30-11:00 am
Bears – 11:00-11:30 am Register and Race 11:30-12:00 am
Wolves – 12:00-12:30 am Register and Race 12:30-1:00 pm
Tigers – 1:00-1:30 pm Register and Race 1:30-2:00 pm
If you cannot make the race, please let your Den Leader know so that we can notify the next racer in line.
2) Blue & Gold Banquet! (3 Mar) NEW INFO! This Saturday! Start time is 5:00 pm and we will be at Nansemond River HS. Use the main entrance. The whole family is invited to Nansemond River High School for a night of fine dining, awards, and entertainment. Want to lend a hand? The setup crew will be there at 2:30 pm. Cannot make it early, we would love to have your help for clean-up!
3) Den Meeting! (6 Mar at Glebe) Our first Den Meeting after Blue & Gold! What electives are you looking at?
4) Den Meeting! (13 Mar at Glebe) Hope everyone is moving right along!
5) Troop Spaghetti Dinner! (17 Mar). Troop 16 doesn’t use popcorn sales to replenish its budget. All the popcorn commissions go to the Scouts. Of course, their great program still needs some funding and they do it with spaghetti! They only have one fund raiser for Troop needs and it is delicious. What to take a break from cooking Saturday night? Come over to Glebe Church on Mar 17th and chow down from 4:00 – 7:00! Tickets are $8 apiece. If you have not purchased tickets you can get them at the door, so if you change your mind at the last minute, come on by!
6) Beech Grove Mulching Party! (24 Mar) NEW INFO! Time to spruce up our home church for Easter! Come out in your Class B tees and clothes you don’t mind getting grubby and help us spread some beautiful new mulch. We’ll do some weeding and general clean-up too. Many hands make light work – and the kids love this. The whole family is invited and if you can only come by for a while that is fine. If you have rakes, wheelbarrows, shovels or pitchforks, please bring them along. Start time is usually around 8 – 8:30 am or as soon as you can get there after that! We finish by about 11.
7) Arrow of Light Boards! (Every Tues until April) Web IIs, I hope you have been studying … I know you are qualified, now’s the time to show it. You need to start scheduling your Arrow of Light Boards. Maximum is 3 per night. Sharp Class A uniform with neckerchief and slide and all your regalia. Impress Mr. Ward and the other members of the review board.
