Pack 89 Families,
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, LAUNCH! Great time at Bottle Rocket’s last night. This weekend is Cub-O-Ree and then a Pack Meeting and then our Arrow of Light Bridging and then – you get the idea, see below for what we have coming up! (Please look at the attachments, they are helpful for Cub-O-Ree attendees).
1) Arrow of Light Boards! (Every Tues until April) We only have 3 Boards left! Way to go Blackbirds!
1) Colonial Trail Cub-O-Ree! (13-15 Apr) THIS WEEKEND! We have a great group going with over 80 attendees from the Pack (Scouts and family members combined)! If you did not verify I have a medical form last night (for each attendee) and/or did not fill out a Waiver for the Tribe, you will need to complete the forms and bring them with you to the camp. I have broken out the forms as separate attachments for you and also attached is the full Leaders and Parents Guide (which also has the forms in the back.) Direction maps are attached.
A. Pack – standard camping gear: tent, bed roll/sleeping bag/pillow, Class A uniform without danglies, neckerchief or slide, Class B (Pack or Scout t-shirt if you have one and scout shorts/pants), rain gear, hat, PJs, toiletries (including toilet paper), and sunblock/bug spray (just in case).
B. Food – eat dinner Friday before you arrive, we’ll provide breakfasts Saturday and Sunday and lunch on Saturday, the Ruritans will deliver the chicken dinners you bought Saturday night.
C. Attendance – come Friday afternoon/evening between 3:00-7:00 pm, set up and camp or come Saturday morning BEFORE 8:00 am to get your shirt and set up. If you have to leave for sports, we understand – make sure you check out with the responsible party staying in camp so we know who’s actually on site in case of an emergency.
D. Most important – BRING YOUR SIGNED MEDICAL FORMS FOR ALL ATTENDEES (this included parents) and your Mattanock Waiver. I will have some extra forms at camp, but please make a copy of your medical insurance card (front and back) for each attendee.
E. Parents, if you have a spare pop up canopy tent (typically 10 x10), please bring it to the Cub-O-Ree.
F. HAVE FUN!
SPECIAL NOTE: If you will not be attending for one of the three meals the Pack is handling (Sat. Breakfast and lunch and Sunday Breakfast), please let me know by tomorrow at Noon. I only need to know which meal you will not be there for and how many, e.g. 2 from the Haden will miss Sat. breakfast. It will help us cut down on wasted food and save everyone money.
2) Ruritan BBQ Chicken Dinner! (14 Apr) Can’t make the campout because you’re busy? I bet you’re too busy to cook too – so don’t! Let the Driver Ruritans do it for you with their amazing chicken dinners (see flyer attached). The Driver Ruritans have supported the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and are the Chartered Organization for Troop 16’s Boy Scouts. Their fund raisers flow right back to our units to keep the programs vibrant. All you need to do is Eat More Chicken! That’s easy to do since the Ruritans are experts at this. 3) Pack Meeting! (17 Apr) We know you have stayed busy earning awards—let’s see what ones! Class A uniforms, no hats. We are meeting at Beech Grove UMC. This is the last Pack meeting for our Blackbirds!
4) Arrow of Light Bridging! (21 Apr) Blackbirds (and anyone interested) will be meeting at Johnson’s Garden Center to be awarded Cub Scouting’s highest award/rank – the Arrow of Light. This will be a great show and worthwhile culmination of the five years they’ve invested in scouting. Then they will Bridge over to their respective Troops and become Boy Scouts. Hawk leaders and parents, if available, you may want to come by…
5) Den Meeting! (24 Apr) NEW INFO! We will have special guests from Troop 16’s Order of the Arrow. They will be demonstrating scouting skills to the whole pack at various stations with everyone getting a chance to participate and to learn from some of Scouting’s Best! Bear and Webelos parents – we will host an introductory meeting regarding Webelos Resident Camp while the boys participate in the scout skills stations.
6) Den Meeting! (1 May) A regular Den Meeting? What is that? Time to work on those electives!
