Pack 89 Families,
We had a great Pack Olympics (be sure to let the UMM know how much you appreciate them) and Summer has finally run its course! Only one more long weekend to go. However, your leaders have already begun to work, the Pack Committee met and put together a jam packed calendar of events for the remainder of the year (attached). We are excited and ready to go! So let’s give you an idea of what to expect!
1. Eclipse Patch – I have received a few inquiries about the Patch. Basically, for those who viewed the eclipse they will have to have a discussion with their Den leaders about it. I think most Den Leaders are planning on tackling that at our first real meeting back. They will then turn in a list for their den on who earned the Patch.
2. Kick Off Picnic! (5 September) – Summer’s over and school’s back in session. Where did the time go? Let us help you cope by coming out to re-unite with old scout friends, share a meal, and have some more splashing fun for everyone in the family. We’ll meet at Beech Grove at 6:30 p.m. for a simple hotdog cookout and catch up. Remember to have the kids (the whole family is invited) wear their swimsuits for the traditional sponge battle. You can wear yours too if you want to get soaked. Bring towels ‘cause you WILL get soaked… You’ll also want a folding chair since outdoor seating is limited. Hey, why not bring a friend who’s interested in cub scouts too!
We’ll supply the hot dogs and chips, Kool-Aid and water. We ask that you bring an equally traditional summertime side dish, fruit, or dessert to share. If you’d like soda for your family, feel free to bring it. All we ask is quick RSVP to this e-mail with the number of your family members attending so we can get enough dogs!
As a side note: negative replies are welcome here too if you can’t make it. I have received some RSVP’s but if you have not RSVP’d yet please do so we can order the right amount of food.
3. Den Meeting! (12 September) Our first Den Meeting of the year! This is where the real work of Cub Scouting takes place.
4. Popcorn Kickoff! (19 September) – Our Kernel has been hard at work already going to meetings and ordering our initial stock of popcorn for the only fundraiser we do all year. Our Kernel will get us all straight on the popcorn program for this year. She’ll have lots of new info for us soon about the effort and how it benefits all of us in scouting.
5. Pack Meeting! (26 September) 6:30 pm. Go to Cub Scout Day Camp or Webelos Resident Camp? Wondering where your awards are? Well, wonder no more because we’ll be ready to make a big deal of presenting your hard earned achievements to you at our massive first Pack Meeting of the new scouting year. Full Class A uniform and best scout behavior…
6. And this is just the start. We have Pack Family Camping on October 14-15 and Webelos Skills on the same weekend (Oct. 14-15), the Driver Days Parade is on Oct. 21 and our Webelos IIs Crabtree Falls campout is on November 3-5. Stay tuned for all of the news as we jump into the new Cub Scout year.
