Pack 89 Families,
I just want to say on behalf of all of Pack 89 – DAY CAMP ROCKED! Linda Hughes and all of our Parents and T16 volunteers (adults and scouts) --- THANK YOU! Fishing, bottle rockets, wood craft, sports, Police dogs, Fire trucks, helicopters and the list goes on! The kids has a lot of fun, learned a few things and saw some really cool stuff – this is what Cub Scouting is supposed to be. Pack 89, you done good. Pictures are up at https://cubscoutpack89troop16.shutterfly.com/. Now, we may be through Day Camp, but that doesn’t mean we are done with Summer. Upcoming events:
1. Webelos Resident Camp– Parents and Scout Meeting. (27 June) NEW INFO! Meeting is at 7 pm at Beech Grove! As you all have heard by now, Webelos Resident Camp is a ton of fun and can be very helpful in progressing your scout. For first time attendees there is lot to keep straight. We will be holding a meeting to go over the whole process of camp, travel logistics, packing, etc. and answer any questions, hopefully discuss the week’s schedule (depends on Powhatan sending out the leader’s guide), and collect payments. That last bit is very important. We will also collect some additional registration information that I have seen they want from the website. Our preference is that both parents and the Webelos attend so everyone knows what to do. If only one parent can attend, please do everything you can to send the parent who will be attending the camp. Again, having both attend is better, as both will be in the know and be able to help cover all of the prep work. Please let me know if you cannot attend. Don’t forget to get your med forms filled out (Parts A, B & C) for all persons attending (attached) and Payments.
2. Swim Call! (15 July) – We are hosting our annual splash-tastic favorite summer event at the Nansemond Swim Club in July. There will be pizza, contests and prizes, and plenty of fun for the WHOLE family as always. RSVP if you can so we can get an idea of participation and how many pizzas we’ll be transporting. We try to keep this is a simple as possible – cheese or pepperoni from whatever pizzeria gives us the best price. It is $5 per swimmer (spectators are no charge) and families pay for their own pizza (usually less than $7 per pie). See attached flyer.
3. Webelos Resident Camp! (30 July - 3 Aug) – Time to camp! We’ll meet the night before to load the trailer and close out med forms and roll out early on the 30th for our Knights of the Roundtable Adventure!
4. Pack Olympics! (TBD August) – The Beech Grove United Methodist Men would like to host this ridiculously fun event for us again sometime in August and make it a cook out as well. Stay tuned for the details!
