I really like this action photo! I am guessing this was the Trophy dash.

A trophy dash winner at Columbus Junction in 1966.  "Mitch" was the MVSC rookie of the year in 1966.  It looks like a straight 6 or 8 for a motor in the car. Mitch is from Oakville/Wapello/Burlington Iowa area and he has raced in many tracks in the area.
