Moss Stays Fast in Slow Race Night

WEST LIBERTY- Point leader John Moss continued to chalk up the victories by winning his second feature race in three days.

West Liberty's favorite driver, Mel Morris was cheered on by the highly partisan crowd for nearly two-thirds of the feature, as he lead Moss. Finally John took him on the straightaway when he fishtailed and lost ground, finishing third.

The evening was hampered by several mishaps on the track. Car number 40 was put out of action in a two-car collision in the semi-main race between the first and second turns.

During the first heat, an auto went into the guard rail in front of the grandstand. Another crashed into a pole on the backstretch in the last heat, knocking out some lights for nearly a half hour.

The number four driver in the standings, Mark Mosier, and his car NO. 17 weren't present at the races because of business in Cinncinati.

Also, Bob Helm's NO. 61 was missing because of wreck a week ago Saturday.

Pokey West of West Chester, Iowa didn't even get a chance to get his car fully warmed up, for in his practice laps he lost control and went through a fence.
