Assignment 1) (Prose Analyze) Write two paragraphs on one of the images below. In your first, describe the elements that are being juxtaposed--placed near each other to reveal some interesting contrast or comparison. In your second paragraph, analyze the composition and explain how the juxtaposition reveals a larger idea. Sometime the similarities and differences in two things--a little boy striking a similar pose as a nearby soldier--reveals a lot. (for example, childhood is under attack, children are indoctrinated into the military early, we grow up living in a fearful, violent world, etc...)
Assignment 2) (Poetic Opportunity) Write two stanzas on one of the images below. In your first, reveal the elements that are being juxtaposed--placed near each other to reveal some interesting contrast or comparison. In your second stanza, explore the composition and push at how the juxtaposition reveals a larger idea. Sometime the similarities and differences in two things--a little boy striking a similar pose as a nearby soldier--reveals a lot. (for example, childhood is under attack, children are indoctrinated into the military early, we grow up living in a fearful, violent world, etc...)
Assignment 3) (Inspired by the Concept) Be inspired by one of the images below. You may write a description, a poem or a narrative. You may use the image you choose as the setting for a story.
