Overview: In chapters eight and nine of The Catcher in the Rye, Holden Caulfield talks with two women, one on a train and the other on the telephone. Your task is to stage an interior dialogue—a conversation between two voices that live in Holden’s head—that occurs as Holden is talking to these two women. You can think of the voices as Adult Holden and Adolescent Holden, Good Holden, Evil Holden, etc…
You should do the following in your skit:
1. Have two clear voices. (Identify them before you start)
2. Go over the events in the scene in detail.
3. Have a debate/dialogue that reveals both Holden’s character, situation and some of the challenges he faces.
4. Enough dialogue for a two-minute presentation.
