Act 3 Review Questions
- With the loss of the money, Beneatha can no longer go to medical school. Describe her reaction to her brother, and then describe how her attitude towards life itself is altered.

In the final moments of the play, the Younger’s are leaving for their new house. These are some of the final descriptions:
“Walter and Beneatha go out yelling at each other vigorously”
Ruth is “biting her lip lest her own pride explode.”
Before she leaves, Ruth “hesitates, then exits.”
Mama has “a great heaving thing [that] rises in her and she puts her fist to her mouth to stifle it, takes a final desparate look…and goes out.”
