Write a 14-line poem about an object that gives you a strong emotion.
Here are some guidelines to follow:
Four Lines: Describe the object using concrete, sensory details
Four Lines: Personify the object
Four Lines: Use a metaphor to explore the object
Two Lines: Find a way to wrap up your poem
Tricks of the trade:1) Don't mention the emotion that your object inspires. Just show it. 2) To make your poem sound like a modern poem, cut little words like helping verbs and "the." 3) edit with your ears to make the poem "sing" (However you want it to sing.)
