What did I do?
In my first intervention I prepared my first class ever. I had to make a presentation about past perfect and the context was change and traditions. I prepared it before hand and I asked feedback from my guide teacher constantly.
What worked well?
The class was very kind and they listened to me explaining the topic, they wrote everything that I said and reacted well to my instructions. They also participated in the activity and answered the questions correctly.
What went wrong?
Because it was my first intervention and my first class ever, I was too nervous and I didn't move around the class. I just stood at the side of the board awkwardly trying to explain the whole presentation and that was very weird.
What would you change?
The way that I did the class. I would had walked around the class while explaining the past perfect. Also I would had spoken louder than I did the first time.
What did I do?
In my second intervention I prepared another power point, but this time it was about reported speech. I didn't have a context so I just explained each type of sentence, the direct and reported speech. This time I walked around the classroom and I spoke louder, I also had more control over the class and I felt really good in general. The students also wrote everything on their copybooks.
What worked well?
The class went without problems, I walked around and spoke to all the students. I also had a good knowledge of the topic and I gave lots of examples and asked questions to the class. I felt really good.
What went wrong?
I didn't have so much time for the activity and I had to rush the students so they could write faster. That was mostly the only problem that I had, the class didn't have that much time to write the information in their copybooks.
What would you change?
I would had brought them a worksheet with a whole summary of the power point and its information so the students would had time to pay attention to what I was explaining.
What did I do?
This was my evaluated intervention so both, my guide teacher and practice teacher were there in the class observing me. I prepared a review of the reported speech, content that we already had seen at that time with the students. First, I showed them some sentences in direct speech and students would report them, but just a few of them. After that, I explained a worksheet that I prepared for the activity and then I gave one to each of them. They worked on it for like 20 minutes and after that they came to the board at the front to check the answers.
What worked well?
The students had a perfect behaviour. They listened to everything that I had to say, they participated in all the activities and answered all of my questions. I walked around the room and made sure that all of them were doing the activity.
What went wrong?
I made too many general questions. They have to be more specific so students can answer easily.
What would you change?
I would had made more specific questions.
What did I do?
For this class, that was my last too, I prepared a little game about reported speech with the context of mass media. I created six different sentences in direct speech. The students made three groups that were going to compete against each other. I had to monitor the game and decide which group would win. After the game I gave each of the students a lollypop as a goodbye gift because it was my last time in their class. I also thanked them for being so nice with me and I wished them the best.
What worked well?
The students had fun with the game and worked on teams, it was something different and I was more relaxed. I got used to doing classes and being at the front of a class.
What went wrong?
The class didn't understand my intructions for the game because they were a little bit confusing so I gave up and explained them in Spanish at the end.
What would you change?
I would try to explain the game in another way, more simple, but only in English until they all understand.
