Heaven

TEMPERA ON CANVAS  150 x 50 cm.

This is a fascinating big canvas, 150cm tall. Realization was quite difficult for Mele, he had to paint it on the ground lifted up by me and often knelt down with his belly on a small wicker footstole. The title of this work derives in part from this experience: the child seemed in prayer insted of painting. It also comes from the perfect celestial peace it inspires. It's one of my favorite paintings. The feeling I get watching it is a resting serenity, it is armonious, deep and elevated.
