This is the first of two canvases with evidently the same subject or representative intention, but realized in different times. The two paintings seem even consequential, I think I'll publish them on the same page to make you appreciate contiguity. How Mele could possibly remember with so much precision what he painted even quite a bit before, up to the point he could continue his figurative narration, remains an astonishing mistery.
