Caterina's Swimming Pool

During summer Mele was taken to a sea side resort called "Bagno Caterina". This resort has a swimming pool with the mosaic of a big orange sun in it. Emanuele bathed only a couple of time, being held by his mother in a baby sling, but he actually laid everyday at the side of the pool on a suntanning bed, under an umbrella. He watched the water, his brother swimming, etc. This is one of the canvases where it is clearly understandable that Mele watches the world from a different perspective and therefore he has a different perception of it. From this position the mosaic of the sun stretched, got broken down and melted with the reflecting surface of the water, while the sides and the further parts of the pool remained azure. The subject of the painting is anyway centred on the mosaic of the sun which is the most fascinating part of the swimming pool for all the children bathing in it.
