On a sun shiny Saturday afternoon the La Crescent Apple Jacks, playing by the rules of 1860, played two games, winning two and losing two. How, you ask?

Well, the announced opponent, the St. Croix Base Ball Club of Stillwater, was only able to bring four players to the matches, therefore, several Apple Jacks played against their normal teammates. The newly constituted team had a majority of Apple Jacks players. Thus, the strange winning and losing of two games.

The first game was won by the regular Apple Jacks team by a score of 20-2. After a rearranging of rosters, the second game was won by the nominal St. Croix team by a score of 24-6. The "Big Inning" carried the day. The winners of the first game scored nine runs in the first inning and seven in the second inning. The second game winners scored 15 runs in the fifth inning.

Apple Jacks pitchers for the day included Gary "Big Wease" Pericak, Joel "Hefty" Affeldt, Jim "Scoop" Schupbach, Jason "Weasel" Pericak and Scott "Roman" Pechacek.

As would be expected with a total of 52 aces scored, the action on the base paths was fast and furious. Leading scorers for the day were Erik "Stretch" Deetz with six aces, and Samuel "Roundabout" Deetz and Benjamin "George" Deetz with five aces each.

Roundabout led all players by reaching base eight times. Close behind were Stretch and George with seven times. Hefty and Weasel were each on base six times, Roman and Jim "Red" Johnson five times, Tim "Louie" Sinniger, Kevin "Hurricane" Knerzer and Paul "Swiss" Geronime four times, Bill "Ho-hum" Ohm three times and Scoop and Jackson "Jackknife" Affeldt twice each.
