The King Apple Parade - Applefest 2014

Sunday, September 21, 2014

Sunny and in the 70s

... beautiful and breezy.

We were #32 in a list

of 120 units.

Jim "Red" Johnson and

Gary "Big Weas" Pericak

carried the banner for the

Apple Jacks.

Don "Dudley"Thesing, an Apple Jacks alumnus, drove his 1963 Ford truck.

Joel "Hefty" Affeldt and his sons Sawyer "Soy Sauce" and Jackson "Jack Knife" tossed several pounds of taffy to children along the parade route.

Lady Joan and Bill "Ho-hum" Ohm wave to parade watchers. Many people stopped them along the route, which was about 1.5 miles.

Mary McLaughlin, Apple Jacks manager, tried to fine spectators for misbehaving. Alas, only $2 was collected, but there were a lot of laughs.

Where was Prince Peter Petersilie? The Apple Jacks umpire was busy at the reviewing stand broadcasting for local radio.

The Apple Jacks head to the end of the parade and a piece of apple pie!

Special thanks to Patty Nix for the photos!
